Hungry Suitcase

I love sites that make me chuckle…and Hungry Suitcase is one of them. This clever marketing site, for Royal Caribbean, had me in stitches. Basically the site is centered around your suitcase that is wanting to go on vacation with you. But where this site is very well done is that instead of searching for a vacation destination via normal methods…you ‘feed’ your suitcase with things that you would like to do while there. Once you have given it enough to decide, it tells you where (according to your selection) he thinks that you should go…with a song number that will crack you up.

FIFTYEIGHT 3D

FIFTYEIGHT, is a 3D design house based in Frankfurt. They are some very tallented, young designers with an eye for fun and detail. Their mascot called Cannics, is amazingly rendered in Flash Alpha Channels so he (well I think its a he?) is totally unaware of what you are viewing/doing on the site…and just carries on doing his own thing. This is the reason that I have decided to post this site. If you liked the “spider” animation on the M-PV site you’ll love this…

krupt online

krupt is a portal site that brings entertainment information and general internet related news to the user. This is done in a very punk/scrapbook sort of way. I like the background file that they have chosen as it tiles well and has a certain britpop kind of vibe going…

Yeigo

Yeigo has the tag line “now you too can talk for FREE”…which is carried out further via their site. Let me explain. By using Open Source software for their site design, (ie the Joomla CMS) Yeigo have kept the costing of the CMS down and have had more time to concentrate on the design of the site.

waitingthefilm.com

This is the site for the DVD release of Waiting. The reason that we chose this site is because of its very interesting navigation system. The user is ‘transported’ along visual lines to the area of information that is of interest to them…however this is done by ‘panning’ the camera over other areas giving the illusion of the user looking at a giant ‘map’ of information.

littledeviant.info

littledeviant.info is a site used to punt the new Toyota Scion. They have had a really interesting flash animation/game to get across the “urban-edginess” of their new product. I think they have really hit this right. With liberal uses of the “XD” smiley and the “sheep-people” the site has an edginess that helps pull of the marketing for this small car.

orderedlist

The great use of un-common colours such as black, green, and blue, with the simultaneous use of larger than normal fonts, is both simplifying and making this blog unique. The use of colours instead of images keeps the load time down to a minimal amount and the clever use of icons all over the show is very eye-catching.

Joshua Ink

Although the designer of this site says that his trade is a “hare-brained scheme”, if we look at his work we can kind-of see it. We can ‘clearly’ see that there is a mass of colour bursting out of, and from behind the text.

Amplifier, is a New Zealand based music portal where local muzo’s can get their music out and to the masses without the need of a huge record deal. The site is clearly laid out, with options for the end-user to sort the music to his/her preference.
